This project called for load bearing walls at 16" O.C. supporting steel trusses designed at 48" O.C.. This design would typically call for built up LGMF post or jambs under each truss every 48" to support the concentrated loads. This is obviously a time consuming and expensive approach for the load bearing walls in both material and labor cost.
With the use of our trade ready header running continuously across the top of the stud wall as a distribution plate we were able to spread out the truss load equally to the 16" O.C. load bearing studs below.
The use of our Trade Ready Header would eliminate the LGMF post mentioned above and help minimize the need for built up headers at the window and door frames. This gave the contractor a more practical design and offered a savings in both material and labor cost.
